May was the busiest month of the year to date for LSS. Thankfully we had a lot of work on across a wide range of sectors and we were run off our feet. During the month of May we installed no less than 7 complete CCTV systems into  pubs, nightclubs, restaurants and homes, as well as an outdoor RGB LED architectural lighting system, and a number of sound systems for bars, pubs, clubs and live events. Following on from our last blog post, and most likely as a result of the downturn, we also found ourselves carrying out a lot of repair and maintenance work. We have carried out repairs to numerous nightclub lighting rigs around the country as well as to sound systems and conference rooms. LSS offer a nationwide service for any existing equipment that any venue may have in stock, offering a cost saving option to equipment replacement.

May 2011 saw our FDB Audio speakers arrive in venues

May was also the month that saw LSS installing our new range of speakers FDB Audio. This high quality range of speakers offer high quality audio and sound for any bar, pub, club or live venue. In May LSS installed a number of systems in applications that required high energy sound systems. We are pleased to report that not only were all of the installations a resounding success, but the sound system delivers such great quality that even the customers were surprised at the bang they got for their buck. To date we have brought these spekaers to Cork, Wicklow, Kildare and Galway, and we are not done yet! The start of June has seen another LSS installation that we will be sharing with you on the news pages of our website very soon.

We have also had some more new and exciting equipment arrive into the showrooms for our DJ and musician customers. LED moving heads are now back in stock in large quantities and are available with flight cases for the road going customers! The amazing Denon DN-MC6000 is also back in stock. This high quality DJ controller for Traktor and Virtual DJ has proved massively popular with DJ's since it's very recent launch, it's in stock now in LSS for demo! The past couple of weeks have been busy for LSS. Whilst the installation and sales of equipment may have slowed down, service and maintenance have not. With money and credit being in short supply people have had to change their attitudes. Gone are the days of replacing a light or speaker because it was blown or acting up, gone are the days of buying new sound and lighting equipment every few months. People have started to realize that they need to look after the equipment they buy, and when it does give a problem it can be repaired!

When you invest in something like a car you know it will need to be serviced and maintained. When you buy kitchen equipment you clean it, when you buy elevators or other mechanical items you service them, sound and lighting equipment is no different. Lights, lasers and sound systems all need regular maintenance to keep them operating correctly and efficiently. Not only that, by maintaining your equipment regularly you minimize the chances of the piece of equipment failing. By cleaning out an amplifier for example, the fans can work right, the amplifier can be cooled correctly and the amplifier will not overheat or kill itself internally. This is the best form of maintenance, preventative maintenance. All too often people call LSS when something has died, or when it is no longer working. This is despite the fact that the piece of equipment may have been displaying symptoms for some time. More often than not, it's too late. Had we been called early enough we could have replaced the faulty sensor, lamp, loom etc. Instead, it was ignored or put on the long finger and now the unit is dead. It is critical that nightclubs, live venues, disco bars and DJ's maintain their equipment. Amplifiers and lights need to be serviced regularly. They need to be cleaned and their internals checked by a professional person. This will protect you, your customers and your equipment.

It is the time of year when trade shows start to happen in our industry and recently LSS made our annual pilgrimage to Frankfurt for Pro Lights and Sound 2011.

Musik Messe - Frankfurt

Our Frankfurt trip is a great opportunity for us to see all of the worlds key manufacturers under one roof. It serves as the launch point for new products and innovations for many of our industries key players and this year was no different.

LSS spent a great deal of time on the KV2 Audio booth and at their external demonstration area. KV2 are world renowned for their unwavering commitment to perfect sound reproduction and yet again their stunning product display, especially in the external areas, left people amazed at he quality and excellence their systems produce. Their VHD system that comprised of only 6 speakers put line arrays and other systems to shame!

Following on from our audio escapades we shifted our focus to the indoor areas and to lighting. As has been the trend for a number of years now there was LED everywhere! Everything now uses an LED light source and to see some of the new fixtures that are promised for this year was great. Onwards however to the Laserworld booth where the guys from Laserworld had taken a different approach to their booth for this year. They had implemented a new Laser dome, an all encompassing laser environment where they showed their latest products and the amazing Phoenix control software. Some of the new products on show by Laserworld were the new PL Series and their new housings, as well as the new CS-1000RGB laser and it's bigger brother the CS-2000RGB laser.

As RCF Dealers LSS also made a stop to the RCF and SGM stand where we had a look at some of the new and exciting products that are coming soon from these exciting forward thinking companies. A new light weight line array is on the way from RCF as is a new series of installation speakers, whilst SGM are doing amazing things with LED strobe lights and colour changers.

All in all Pro Light this year was a great show. There are a whole host of new DJ products on the way as well as new speakers, lights and lasers from a whole load of different manufacturers. LSS will continue to ensure you are kept up to date with the very latest in news and products.

LSS spent a busy 2 days in Frankfurt where we met with a number of different manufacturers, distributors and resellers. We even came across a few from home! Our efforts to bring our customers the very best products at the best prices possible continue and we will keep pushing ahead and leading the way for as long as we can!

St Patricks week was a busy time at LSS. We had a lot going on and a lot of kit coming and going for different events and venues. As is typical with St. Patricks week everyone thinks Irish and then thinks green. Once they realize they need something green they typically end up calling LSS about something, anything, to do with lighting. As one of the largest stock holders of LED, laser and lighting technology in Ireland LSS were well equipped to cater for all of the enquiries we received. Over the St. Patricks day period LSS offered a large range of different products to different venues and locations to help make the St. Patricks day experience special to them

• Lasers - We had a huge number of green lasers hired out to bars and nightclubs
• Skytrackers - We had 4 Skytrackers out on hire in different locations around the country
• LED Lighting - From corporate events to bars and nightclubs we had LED bars, RGB LED Strips and LED Par cans all over the city and country

And we had much more going on as well as all of this. We were in Citywest where we were responsible for the PA/Audio for the world title boxing fight that took place there. We were also carrying out a new CCTV installation complete with custom camera cages. Finally the showroom is proving to be a great hit with DJ's, musicians, publicans and nightclub owners and operators all caling to see, test and demonstrate the latest audio, video and lighting products.
