Light Sound Service provided a wide range of services to the recent Milk 2010 Music Festival in Ballinlough Castle in Westmeath. Involved from the early stages LSS designed, supplied and installed a complete ambient lighting package for the event. The event, Europe's first music festival aimed at the LGBT community Milk was a high profile concert that saw guests entertained by superstars such as Sophie Ellis Bextor, Alexandra Burke, Banarama, Sam Fox and many more.
Ballinlough Castle - Lit by LSS

Light Sound Service were contracted to supply all of the mood, ambient and effect lighting throughout the whole Ballinlough estate for the event. This saw LSS undertake the lighting of no less than 6 separate areas including the VIP tent, artists changing rooms, walkways form the artists changing rooms to the main stage, the camp site entrance area, bar areas and much more. LSS decided that where possible LED lights and RGB LED lighting would be used as the primary light source. A lot of LED fixtures were used for the event. Choosing RGB LED meant that the power requirements LSS had were reduced and the overall possible effect in all of the areas was enhanced as a result of the RGB (color change) fixtures being in place. Reduced power requirements meant that LSS required less generator power, less diesel and less expense. Our new RGBW 54 x 3w IP rated par cans were used to great effect to light the front of the castle itself. Twinned with 2 of our 2500 watt City Colours LSS ensured that the facade of the castle was lit in such a manner that saw the architectural features of the building being highlighted by the LED lighting while the castle and all of it's glory was highlighted by the city colors.

LSS provided other feature lighting in walkways and transit areas of the estate. This included lighting trees, features and specific areas relevant to the event. As well as all of the lighting products LSS provided full design, support and consultancy services from an early stage. This ensured that the installation of the lighting on site was seamless with every party involved knowing fully what was expected of them. LSS provided a complete turn key solution including design, installation, commissioning, cables and infrastructure and project management. LSS are proud to have been associated with Milk 2010.
